What would make a short hair dog shed profusely to the point of looking gray after getting spayed? d

My Medallion is a 2 %26amp; half year old cross breed between red nose staff %26amp; dalmatian..after giving birth to 8 pups when she was 20 mths old she was losing her hair as she was birthing..and no more shedding after that until she was spayed 4 mths ago. took her back to the vet who in turn was not sure why? so after testing for parasites, found nothing..prescribed a bottle with a pump of omega3 %26amp; fatty acid supplements, 6 pumps daily until finished..the bottle is nearly done and Medallion looks brighter and more energetic than ever but the hair loss is still there..not as profound, but never the less, still there..My theory is.. that maybe as rogud and as powerful of a dog that she is..or as big as she is..she just does not handle stress very well..What do you think?? and for my next question..we have a 15 month old indoor tabby, and she forever grooms..is she overly clean or could it be she has fleas??

For your dog, if your vet is stumped - darn. My grandmother had a small dog that had sensitive skin and lost most of her hair - there wasn't much to do besides bath her often in soothing doggy bath stuff like oatmeal shampoo. Maybe get a second opinion if you can afford it?

As for your kitty, what kind of grooming? My boy is a VERY sparkling clean kitty and grooms alot, but he always groomed his you know what. Then he started peeing on the bed and I knew something was up - I got him to the vet and apparently he developed a urinary tract infection, as well as crystals in his urine. The vet let me look at them, and BOY they looked painful. He'd probably had them for a long time too, and it was a lengthy spendy process getting him clear of it all...
