Is it time to stop colouring my hair?

Ok, I'm mid 40's - I've had very dark hair but the white ones are coming through thick and fast. I've been colouring them for about 15 years....(not to go darker than my 'natural' shade, just to blend the white ones in) I think I'm fighting a losing battle and wonder if I should stop colouring it.

Hubby thinks I might look a lot older if I go grey. What do I do?

I've still got good skin colouring and a wrinkle free face.

I have been thinking the same thing...the greys at my temple only stay colored for two days now. (But isn't nice having a wrinkle free face, and as far as that goes my body is good too)

Have you ever tried streaking your hair? That might be a gentler way to let the grays show through.

Last thing that has crossed my mind...I wonder what I (you)would look like blonde? I know the greys show through on blondes too, but I always thought it looked angelic rather than tired.

If you like it and he likes it - why ask?

I would keep coloring your hair. If you still have great skin and minimal wrinkles why turn your self into a grandma? i know it must be frustrating but the gray option not an option!

NO!!! If you have a wrinkle free face and can put up with the touch ups. KEEP DOING IT. Noone wants to look older, and obviously if you are wrinkle free, then you've been taking VERY good care of yourself. Keep doing it. I know many of my moms friends really lost alot of confidence in themselves when they stopped dying their hair and "let themselves go". Keep up with it. Appearance (unfortunately) really matters to alot of people. Good luck

when you colour you hair only do the grey/white parts not your whole head, it is a good Idea to put red on the grey/white parts wash out the colour then add brown in your hair, light hair needs a filler, that's why the brown isn't staying in...

It's such a personal choice. Why not try it for a while and see how you like it?

I had the same story as you, coloring for 15 years to cover gray. After the sudden death of a close friend, I just stopped coloring it, as part of the grieving process.

12 years later, I LOVE my gray hair! It came in really pretty, and has a soft look that I love. People compliment me frequently about it.

We don't have to wear our gray hair like our grandmothers did, find a beautiful style that you love!

So you might be surprised, and so might your husband. If not, you can always color it again.

I'm just like you. Hair, skin, no wrinkles. I tried growing my hair out and it just didn't work. For me, it would take Emmy Lou Harris hair to get me to grow it out. I look considerably more youthful even with my excellent skin and toned body, when i have color in my hair. It's a pain, but worth it to me. I color it myself with a natural no peroxide dye called Herbatint. There are a couple other brands at the health food stores that are free of most chemicals. These are much easier on the hair and don't create a lot of damage. Gray hair takes henna better than any other natural color of hair. Have you tried that? Maybe grow it out a little yourself %26amp; see what you think.

Bon chance! Let us know what you decide to do.
