Why do I have silky long hair and dark skin?

I'm Black, Cheeroke, French,British and Lebabnose Arab. It's weird, the rest of my family has reddish brown skin or light skin while and they have kinky hair. Is this a genetic muatation or a lost gene that shows up in me.

It IS all genetics. In DNA, there are many different possibilities for outcomes. Like in eye/hair/or anything else, it can be determined by charts with dominant and recessive traits. It seems to me, that for your hair, straight was a recessive gene...one of your parents have Ss and the other ss. there is a 1 in 4 chance that yo got the hair and skin you did. I hope that helps.

And i think you should be proud of the lost traits in your family tree. It shows the great diversity of your heritage, so you should be proud.

With all those different mixes I bet your amazing looking... I wouldn't worry about whether you look like your family. That won't matter when your older and on your own will it?

With all those intermixings within your ancestry, you have kept the darker skin and got the nice hair that the others in your family didn't.
