could be hereditary, try rogaine
I am a 45 year old female who has been losing hair slowly all over not in patches on my head. Can you help?
Are you losing it in patches? If so, this is due to stress and nutrition and you need to see your doctor to make sure your hormone levels are ok. If you are just gradually losing hair everywhere, this could be a female form of balding. Yes it happens to women, just like men. If this is the case look into rogaine, and scalp treatments. You can get really cheap scalp treatments at the beauty schools.
You may still want to check with your doctor just to make sure hormones are in good levels.

Check to see if you're getting too much vitamin A - too much will cause hair loss

Ohh! I have this also. I'm 35yrs. I have asked everyone, and even kept mental notes.
My very strong thought is - it's STRESS! Every time I get really stressed (money, relationship, work...) It will start to happen about a few weeks later, and last for a month or longer (I've had it last as long as 8 months). I have figured out it takes about a month for it to stop after I have my problem under control. I hope this helps!! You might have to talk to your Dr for a Rx to get the stress under control???

My friend had the same problem right around 45 years of age. She was a vegetarian. In addition to losing patches of hair, she was also feeling lethargic at times, had inability to concentrate, and being forgetful. After visiting the doctor, it turned out that she was anemic and needed to take iron supplements. The symptoms eventually went away. I sugg that you visit your doctor and OBGYN as it may also have somethign to do with hormonal changes.

This is most certainly your hormones!!! Have them tested, a saliva test for estrogen ,testosterone, and progesterone. They will test for others as well, cortisol etc. oh and get your thyroid tested, t3 and t4. Thyroid issues can cause your hair to fall out as well. Most likely your estrogen level is dropping and the small amount of testosterone that we women have is being processed a little differently now and it is changing into a different hormone called DHT (happens to men too ) Fight for that hormone test...the saliva one, not the blood one. they are very different. I am speaking from experience. Good luck.
