My golden retriever is losing hair in some places its like an empty round with no hair wjat is that

It could be demodectic mange, ringworm, or any number of other problems. You need to take your dog to the vet and let them do a skin scraping or other tests to determine the source of the problem.

Depending on the cause, your dog may need medicated baths or topical ointments. But the only one who can make an accurate diagnosis and give you the correct treatment methods is your vet.

Sounds like roundworm or similar. Off to the vets!

The skin lesions that appear with Ringworm are variable, and do not necessarily form a ring. There will be hair loss, usually in small patches at first. as time goes on the patches may disappear or appear at other locations on the skin. There might be scratching due to itchiness. If the hair loss occurs on the face or feet there is a chance it is due to digging habits or exposure to rodents. This patch is typical of the lesion seen in Ringworm. A diagnosis of this fungus can not be made based just on the appearance of this lesion because other skin conditions (Demodex for example) can show similar lesions.

off to the vets to be checked.

be careful if is ringworm you can contact it.

other issues can be the cause so a check up is required.

I have a Labrador that does the same thing. It is a hot spot. It can be caused by allergies, or even fleas. Take the dog to your vet, they can give an injection that will help, and the hair will grow back quickly.

Yep, allergy or some other skin condition. My black lab gets it 2-3 times a year.

Take the dog to the vet for some meds.

You'll have to have a veterinarian (or a vet tech) do a skin scrape, but my first guess would be fungus infection, treatable with a topical.

but you do need to have someone with canine dermatology experience look at it under a microscope.

Could be ringworm, could be hot spots, could be allergies, could be all of that and/or something else, so see your Vet. Try a food with wild game, like Venison in it. I have a Golden Retriever mix who has had a lot of skin issues and finding the right diet, supplements, anti-flea products etc. has been a challenge. Nutrition and Vet recommendations help her have a healthy life.
